🎯

Multiple Modes

A clean countdown timer prepares you for the take. The floating control bar transforms into a live duration readout.

3

Instant Toast & Quick Actions

A non-intrusive HUD toast gives you instant playback, 1-click clipboard copy, in-place video editing, or quick Finder reveal.

πŸŽ‰ Latest Release

Say hello to Rec

Rec is a beautifully simple, lightweight alternative to complex screen recording suites. It gets out of your way and does one thing exceptionally well: native, high-quality screen and audio capture without the fuss.

βœ‚οΈ

Built-In Video Editor

Trim start/end points with smooth timeline scrubbing and mute audio tracks in-place with zero duplicate files.

πŸ””

Floating HUD Toast

A subtle notification docked at the bottom-right of your screen lets you copy, edit, or share without center popups.

πŸ”

Internal Audio without drivers

Most screen recorders require you to install messy third-party loopback extensions. Rec uses native ScreenCaptureKit APIs.

⚑️

Pro Performance & 120 FPS

Silky smooth recordings from 15 FPS up to 120 FPS ProMotion with hardware-accelerated Apple Silicon encoding.

This is just the beginning. Have an idea? .

Installation

🍺 Install with Homebrew (Recommended)

Install and manage Rec automatically with Homebrew:

brew install arunofhyd/rec/rec

⚑ One-Click Terminal Install

Alternatively, compile and install locally via Terminal:

/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/arunofhyd/Rec/main/install-rec.command)"

Manual Installation (Fallback)

  1. Download install-rec.command file manually.
  2. Open Terminal (⌘+Space, type "Terminal", press Enter).
  3. Type sh β€” that's s, h, then a space.
  4. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the Terminal window (its path fills in automatically).
  5. Press Enter and follow the on-screen prompts, then drag Rec onto Applications.
user@macbook ~ % brew install arunofhyd/rec/rec
==> Downloading Rec.zip…

First time only: the installer may ask to install Apple's Command Line Tools (a small official Apple download). This lets your Mac build the app locally β€” which is why macOS trusts it, with no "damaged app" warnings.
